This event takes place annually and introduces the magic of game development to thousands of students. This is a chance for participants to meet enthusiastic game developers from around the country. The 2023 game jam attracted over 230 participants from over 24 schools from across the country including University of Texas, University of Massachusetts, University of Tulsa, Southern New Hampshire University and Full Sail University to name a few. This year we had well over 250 students participate!

The theme for Chillennium 2024 was *Hang in There*. Students were joined by mentors from companies from around the country, Bluepoint Games, Smatronix, Electronic Arts, Epic Games, Spartacus Studios, Blizzard and Equinox Games all took part. Students were in groups of up to 4 members and created 54 games that can be seen on [itch.io](https://itch.io/jam/chillennium-2024/entries). The above video gives a glimpse at all the work done by our talented students.

LSU was proud to represent our growing game development community in the state and show what we can do in a very short amount of time. Getting to squeeze an entire dev cycle in two days is an industry ritual that goes back to the early days of game development. Hopefully the students all took away a bonding experience and experienced the sheer joy of game development.

Looking forward to LSU participating in more game jams in the near future!

{"@type":"Organization
LSU Digital Media Arts & Engineering
@type":"ImageObject
https://dmae.lsu.edu/icons/icon-192x192.png"}}}},{"@type":"ListItem
@type":"NewsArticle
@type":"Person
Marc Aubanel
2024-01-25 06:40:00

Congratulations to Nyako Arana who wins the fan art contest for this year's Chillennium.
